TDCS/TMS

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (TDCS) are both non-invasive methods for stimulating parts of the brain. TMS and TDCS are active neuro devices, in the sense that they change the firing rates and activity levels of neurons, and groups of neurons in the brain. Major differences between TMS and TDCS are described below.

VIDEO RECORDING, EDITING AND ANALYSIS

In qualitative research, it is crucial for the researcher to ask whether, in light of his or her object and goals, it would be more appropriate to conduct systematic observations, to produce a handwritten or recorded field journal, to conduct interviews (structured or not), to photograph, to videotape and so on. The proper response to these questions will determine, to some extent, the quality, scope, adequacy and feasibility of the empirical data gathered.

BMCS DOCTORAL PROGRAM

The Brain, Mind & Computer Science (BMCS) emerges from the close collaboration between faculty from psychology, cognitive neuroscience and information science around the unifying topic of human-computer interaction. Its program rests on the assumption that the ability to work in groups with people of different background is now a fundamental condition to produce scientific excellence and to develop innovative skills that can be spent on the job market. We believe that this ability should be strongly supported already during research training.

Admission

Admission to the BMCS doctoral program is by application to a call posted on this page. The ordinary call open to all nationalities is issued annually in spring; other calls targeting specific themes or nationalities might open as well and are posted on this page.
