HIT Research Centre was established in 2013 by Rector's Decree n. 1135/2013. The centre focuses on carrying out basic and applied scientific research, on offering high education programs (PhD, Post PhD), and on accomplishing knowledge and technological transfer in the interdisciplinary domain of the human interaction with technologies.

The projects and activities managed by the centre benefit from the contribution of scholars and young researchers of various background. Currently, HIT members are affiliated with the Dept. of General Psychology, the Dept. of Information Engineering, the Dept. of Industrial Engineering, the Dept. of Developmental Psychology and Socialization, the Dept. of Mathematics, the Dept. of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, the Dept. of Legal Political Science and International studies, the Dept. of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology.
