Project description
My research focuses on developing next-generation computational tools—specifically the STRPsearch platform—for the large-scale detection and classification of Structured Tandem Repeat Proteins (STRPs). Because STRPs are vital to proteomic diversity yet notoriously difficult to identify using standard sequence-based methods, I am engineering a hybrid methodology that integrates structural alignment with deep learning to improve detection accuracy for challenging motifs. By implementing GPU acceleration, this project will enable the rapid, high-performance analysis of entire proteomes from rapidly expanding databases like AlphaFoldDB. Ultimately, delivering this enhanced, open-source tool will set a new benchmark for structural bioinformatics, facilitating large-scale evolutionary studies and supporting biomedical research into diseases driven by proteins.
