Project description
Today exercise has a role as medicine in several chronic diseases, however, current guidelines are still poorly met in older adults. Nutrition as well plays multiple roles in successful aging because it prevents chronic diseases, slows disease progression and reduces disease symptoms. The aim of successful aging is to slow down physical, mental and social decline and this project could be helpful for this purpose. Nowadays, technology has given great opportunities to maintain social capital among older adults; social networks may help to reduce loneliness and self-isolation. This project, whose name is BENE (Brain Exercise and Nutrition in Elderly), encompasses nutrition, physical exercise and cognitive function and the main aim is to create an easy application that can help older adults to meet the suggested guidelines in terms of physical activity and nutrition. The goal of the application is to create a tailored pool of suggestions to educate the individual to a more active lifestyle and thus achieve successful aging.
