Project description
The error awareness (EA) is a cognitive process which allows to monitor on-line the behavioral performance in order to prevent, identify and correct mistakes. It is an essential adaptive process, in fact its impairment could be responsible for some symptoms present in psychiatric and neurological disorders.
The electrophysiological components and the neuroanatomical correlates related to the EA have been broadly investigated. However, studies that allow to generate strong anatomical and functional hypotheses, especially based on the Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation techniques (NIBS), are lacking in literature. Moreover, researches that draw clearly an ontogenetic trajectory of the EA are neglected.
Against this background, my main project will be to study the EA through the NIBS, as well as to investigate this process along the lifespan by behavioral techniques, such as computerized tasks and neuropsychological tests.
