Project description
Contextual biases have often been discarded as a nuisance or a peculiarity, but in recent years they have become a focus of active scientific interest as a potential key to understanding the mechanisms of human vision. However, existing theoretical and computational models are not able to explain all the diverse empirical findings. This project aims to combine behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and neuroscientific methods (high-density electroencephalography, transcranial magnetic stimulation) to understand why and how contextual biases arise in perception and visual working memory.
